The celebration of Awka Window on America at Two, in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the Department of Religion and Human Relations, and Ichoku Academy, was a great and successful event, spiced up with a very interesting, engaging, interactive, and fascinating Public Lecture titled "Africa in the Diaspora: The Role of Music in African American Life." Dr. Gillian Richards-Greaves is a Fulbright Scholar at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka and an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Geography at Coastal Carolina University. The guest lecturer stressed that music has played a significant role in African American history and culture and has been used as a form of expression, resistance, and celebration. She gave information about the historical and cultural influences of African Americans on music and musical instruments.

The panel discussion that formed part of the celebration was also an excellent way to engage with different perspectives and ideas shared by experts in the field from various Departments of Sociology and Anthropology, Religion, English language, and Literature, with their students in attendance.
