American Spaces Programs

EducationUSA (Every Wednesday)

EducationUSA is one of the core programs of American Spaces.

The EduUSA is a weekly orientation program on education in the US, which is usually anchored by an US Education Adviser. For those of you who are interested in studying in the United States, there are free resources at this space that could help you make your dream come true. The eLibrary USA provides enormous resources including, books, magazines, movies. In addition to hosting US higher education, the Window highlights aspects of American culture through programs like: movie screenings, book discussion clubs, digital video conferences, speaker events, and themed exhibitions.

 

Speak with a Diplomat (Last Thursday)

The Window engages Diplomats from every section of the US Consulate to share their experiences and the work they do. This program takes place every Last Thursday of every month.

 

Conversation with an Alum (Every 3rd Friday Monthly)

As part of her mandate, American spaces engage alumni of the US to share their experiences as a way of giving back to their home countries.

Employability Webinars (Last Monday – Monthly)

The webinar is designed to provide entrepreneurial and leadership skills to our teeming youths. It holds every Last Monday of every Month.

 

MOOC Camps (Tuesday – Weekly)

An American Space is a centre where young people develop their ideas, as well as their leadership and entrepreneurship skills through programs or workshops designed especially for them through her Multiple Open Online Courses (MOOC). In the MOOC series, we have successfully completed programs on Job and Career Opportunities for Graduate Students, Personal Effectiveness for Youth, Blogging and Web Design, Python Fundamentals, etc.

 

American English Webinars for Educators (Bi-weekly, Wednesday)

Teachers and educators are not left out in our programs. Our Bi-weekly programs on Wednesday provides them through webinars, with the required training for effective educational management.

The Awka Window on America was officially commissioned on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 by the Public Affairs Officer of the US Consulate, Lagos; Mr. Stephen Ibelli, as one of the American Spaces in Nigeria. 

American Spaces provide welcoming environments where visitors can learn about the United States through strategic programs and lectures, as well as through books, magazines, and movies. The American Spaces are often hosted in embassies, schools, libraries, universities, and other partner institutions.
